Grand Knight’s Column

Dear Brothers,

I invite all my fellow Knights to actively participate in the 2006 - 2007 Council year. It is with heartfelt feeling and love of God that I share my commitment to make all of us as proud as we can be of our membership in Saint Patrick Council #13307.

Let us strive to make this a memorable and holy experience. We can enjoy all that makes our council special as we serve God and His people. Let us do this with enthusiasm, faith, and love.

Remember, our actions will always determine how proud we’ll be of ourselves as respected members of council #13307.

Once again this year we need to fill some open director positions and I ask that in the spirit of Father Michael J. McGivney that you come forward and volunteer for anyone of the following positions: Director of Youth Activities, Director of Council Activities or Director of Community Activities. In addition we are in need of someone to lead us as our Membership Director that will help to bring in new members. During the council year just ended we were able to bring in 5 new members and an additional 5 transfer members from other Councils. With a strong Membership Director and each Knight going out and asking someone to join I am sure we can exceed these numbers significantly this Council Year.

A hearty “Well done” to both our departing Chancellor, Wayne Becker and our First Year Trustee, James McBride. Many thanks for your generous service to our council.

June Social Meeting

Altar Server Awards

The June Social meeting featured our annual Altar Server of the Year Service. This year the Council recognized

14 individual servers who participate in the celebration of the Mass. Their combined years of service to the Parish were 73 years.

The 2006 Altar Servers of the Year were Danny and Sean Kelly each with 9 years of service. The Council presented each of them with an award plaque and all the servers received a Certificate of Appreciation for all their hard work.

Following the service a reception was held in the Parish Center for the servers and their families. A good number of our Brothers and their families came out for this service, which I am sure the families appreciated.

I want to thank everyone for choosing me as Faithful Navigator. I will do a great leadership job with the slate of officers I have in this Assembly for 2006-2007. I was not at the last assembly meeting. I understand Mike and the Officers of 2005-2006 had a very good year. They ended up in the black—good news! I will be open for any ideas or suggestions. Please come forward. I know we will have a very good year. We are going to be more visible to the public. God bless all the Knights and the Ladies who are always there to help.

Knights Of Columbus Insurance

Worthy Grand Knight and my Brothers, Brother Knights all:

First, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the outgoing officers of the Councils and Assemblies for a job well done. I wish to express my sincere thanks to all the members for their support and cooperation with me as your Council’s fraternal insurance field agent. I look forward to serving your needs for a long time into the future.

Second, I wish to congratulate all the new Council officers taking the positions you were elected to. Your Council has shown by electing you the faith that you will carry out the great principles of our Order handed down by our Founding Father, Father Michael J. McGivney.

The bar has been raised by the officers and members last year, and I’m sure during your tenure you will continue to raise the bar. As your fraternal insurance counselor I, too, am raising the bar. I will work twice as hard to see that all Councils in my jurisdiction gain the Star Council awards. But…I need your help. Don’t wait till the last minute to gain insurance members.

Grand Knights, talk insurance at your meetings, run blitzes. Financial Secretaries, please send me my copies of the Form 100’s so I may contact the new members in a timely manner.

I promise that I will contact all new members, transfers, reinstatements, in a timely manner. Also, I will attend all Council meetings and Degrees in my jurisdiction that I possibly can.

Again, congratulations to all incoming officers. I look forward to a great year with 100% Star Council awards.
