The Saint Patrick Knights of Columbus Council # 13307 was organized on March 23, 2003. During the past 22 months
the Council has grown today to approximately 85 members. A number of the initial members came over from Council # 3358 on
Fruitville Road but well over 25% are new parish members who have joined the Knights.
The first year of operation under Grand Knight Charles Biondolillo was one of growing the Council and establishing
the groundwork for all our programs and putting together a strong team of Council Officers.
In July 2004 the Council began its second fiscal year of operation under the leadership of Ozro Barclay who is the
Current Grand Knight.
During the first 22 months of operation here at Saint Patrick’s a Ladies Auxiliary has been established and
plans are underway for establishing a Squires Program for our Youth. The Ladies Auxiliary has held a dinner dance and also
a show starring a great entertainer.
The Knights have held a number of social events (various dinner dances, fish dinners during lent, chicken and Italian
dinners during the summer months and free parish breakfasts), which have all been geared to the parishioners of Saint Patrick
to bring them together for good times and good friendship. A resolution adopted in our first year requires us to put 45% of
the profits from these events into two funds. The first fund is for the support of projects for Saint Patrick Church. The
second fund is to support organizations associated with Saint Patrick’s Parish and/or Community based organizations
within the Sarasota Area. Your support of these events has helped us to raise $3,600 to date.
As a result of these funds we have helped to pay for roof repairs to the church, donated funds to the pre-school for
their new playground equipment, provided funding to a seminarian here in the Diocese. The Council has contributed through
the Catholic Charities and the State Council for the relief of our many victims of the Hurricanes last summer
The Council has sponsored several youth activities like the Spelling Bee Competition and the Substance Abuse Poster
Competition. We have had a “Mass of Thanks” in recognition of the Alter Servers here at Saint Patrick’s.
Awards were given to the Alter Server of the Year and a reception followed in the Parish Center for the servers and their
families.
The Council has held several devotional services from a retreat to a rosary service as a part of its programs for
member Knights and their families.
Brother Knights have given in excess of 8,300 hours of service to both the Parish and the Community in the form of giving blood, Church, Community, youth and fraternal activities
including transportation, counseling, tutoring, etc and working in soup kitchens and helping with the distribution of our
monthly Parish Outreach donations. .
We are always interested in talking to those men from 18 years and up who would be interested in learning more
about our Council.
