Grand Knight’s Column
Brother
Knights
It is hard to believe that it has been six months since I assumed the position of Grand Knight from Brother
Ozro Barclay. It has been a very interesting and rewarding six months. The sprit of cooperation and the dedication of so many
brothers to make these last six months a very successful time period for our Council. As has been mentioned on a number of
occasions the spirit that came to life with this year’s Fish Dinners was nothing short of outstanding. I want to take this opportunity to say thank you to all the officers and fellow Brothers who have helped
to make this a strong and vibrant Council. Your dedication to the growth and strength of the Council is greatly appreciated.
To our new incoming
slate of officers especially our two new officers, Peter Pizatti – Chancellor and Wayne Peterson – 3rd
Year Director, I offer my congratulations and welcome you aboard. To the two
outgoing officers Chuck Biondolillo our 1st Year Director and Wayne Becker our Chancellor I want to remind you
both that we intend to use your talents and service this coming year to help make Council # 13307 even stronger and more vibrant
then in the past. I also want to thank the Ladies Auxiliary for their strong
support of the Council and for all the assistance they provided to us this past year.
I would like to take this opportunity to encourage all those wives who have not participated in the Ladies Auxiliary
to come out next September when they resume their meetings and join this great group.
The new slate of
officers will assume their duties effective July 1, 2006. I will be working with our District Deputy to arrange for an installation
ceremony date in the near future.
Fraternally yours in Christ

May Social Meeting
The May Social meeting featured the two organizations for which we raised money this winter with our
Annual Handicap Drive.
Ms. Marla Doss from Children’s Haven and Adult Community Services and Ms. Maggie Riggall from
Sarasota Special Olympics were on hand to receive their checks of $1,000
Each provided a brief talk on the various services that the organization provide to their clients.
Ms. Riggal from Special Olympics had a DVD presentation for everyone to watch. Ms.
Doss from Children’s Haven handed out a copy of their 2004-2005 Annual Report.

Faithful
Navigator Report
June
2006
Well, my term as Faithful Navigator is quickly coming to an end.
This is my last report, so I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all my Officers and the many members who
helped me this year. To start naming them, would take up too much room and I
would most likely miss a few.
I
also want to congratulate the new Faithful Navigator, Otto Emerson and all his Officers.
Good luck to you all. To make a little play on words, I say “one
good term deserves another.” The verdict isn’t in yet as to
how I did this year, but if you all pitch in and help the new leadership, not only with work, but with your Ideas, the next
term will be an enjoyable and productive one. I would like to thank all the new
members who were exemplified during my term, including those from the Cosmas & Damian Council at Our Lady Queen of Angels
Church and the St. Patricks Council. They chose to join our Assembly and I am
very thankful.
This
Assembly, as with our daily lives, doesn’t always run smoothly. If we want
to succeed though, we have to do what needs to be done and keep working towards our objective.
In this case, my objective was to run a good Assembly. At the start of
my term, Fr. Clemente was reassigned to St. Michael’s Church in Wauchula and I was unable to find another member of
the Clergy to fill his position as Faithful Friar. Also, the person who was nominated
as Faithful Pilot, reneged on the position and I had to find a replacement for him.
I decided to call my friend Paul Matera and ask him if he would help me out and take the job. His Wife Elly, being in a Nursing Home, took a lot of his time, but he consented to take the job. Well, with my Admiral Don Donovan leading us in Prayer, we got by without a Friar,
and Paul was certainly a worthy Pilot.
Our Color Corps, led by Commander Tom Dineen, had a busy year.
Under his leadership, we’ve had training, marched
at the Bishops fund raiser at St. Ann’s Hall, We’ve been to the Epiphany Cathedral, Corporate Communions, two
Confirmations, just to name a few.
I
would like to give a special “Thank You” the ladies of the “Ladies Auxiliary” for all the help they’ve
given us this year. Without them, both the Council and the Assembly wouldn’t
have been able to have all the events we’ve had.
Dedicated to Paul Matera.
As you may have heard, after our Assembly meeting in April, while Paul was in the Lounge relaxing,
he was suddenly stricken with a Brain Aneurism and he passed away hours later. Paul
was a soft spoken gentleman and a friend to everyone who knew him. When we meet
someone, the most common greeting we use is, “How are you?” No matter
how Paul felt that day, Paul’s answer was always “Never Better.” Could
you imagine that a person who had recent Back Surgery and was still in pain and had a Wife with Alzheimer’s disease,
saying “Never Better”? That’s the kind of man Paul was.
I’m sure I speak for everyone who knew him, when I say that he will be sorely missed. He was a great friend, a Council Brother, a Sir Knight and a member of our Color Corps. God rest his soul.
It has been a good year for me,
thanks to the efforts and advice of so many good Knights and Ladies. Thank you
all.
Fraternally,
Your Faithful Navigator

Knights
Of Columbus Insurance
Worthy Grand Knight and my Brothers, Brother
Knights all:
The Council’s year is coming to a close,
but there is still time for your Council to get the Star Council or Founders Award.
Some councils are just one or two members away from one of these awards.
Here are a few ideas:
1.
Annuity; IRA;
Roth IRA – these annuities are paying a guaranteed rate of 3.50% and deposits made now are getting 4.50% if over $10,000. They can be opened for a deposit of $300. If
you have a CD coming due, a K of C IRA could be to your advantage as they are tax-deferred.
2.
A $1,000 life
insurance policy can be obtained for as little as $40 to $100 annual premium depending on age.
I know this is a little amount but it does gain cash value. You can leave
it to a grandchild, your council, or your church. The latter is tax-deductible.
These ideas also will guarantee that you can
take advantage of Knights of Columbus products if something should happen to you. Do
it for your family, your council, or yourself.
CALL ME TODAY, RON FOLEY, AT (941) 776-2902. TOMORROW MAY BE TOO LATE.
Fraternally,
Ronald A. Foley, Field Agent
