Chaplain’s Column:
Brother Knights
Bu the time that you read this column, Ash Wednesday and the beginnings of Lent have started. Yes, you and I have
observed Ash Wednesday by participating in the Body and Blood of Christ and having the ashes of the blessed palms marked on
our foreheads in the form of a cross. To some people, I am afraid, this mark on their forehead simply means that they have
been to church on this particular day in accordance with the precepts of the Church, and nothing more. What do you say when
someone remarks that there is dirt on your head? Do you hurry to wash it off, or do you explain to them what this symbol means
to you?
Many of my Brother Knights went last year to see the movie “The Passion of Christ”. I know that many
came away from there with a new meaning of Lent, how Christ went into the desert for forty days and was tormented by the devil,
then was betrayed, suffered so much at the hands of the Roman Soldiers and then was crucified. Did he do this to wash away
all the sins that were committed up to that time? No, My Brothers, He died for all our sins, that we may some day enter into His Kingdom where He reigns forever!
Let us continue in this period of repentance for our sins and pray that when we are called, we will be found worthy to enter
into His Kingdom!
May the Blessings of our Lord be ever with you.
Father George Brennan, Chaplain
Grand Knight’s Column
Brother Knights
A Nominating Committee has been formed to select a slate of officers for this council for the fiscal year beginning
in July. According to our By-Laws, this Grand Knight appointed SK Neil Welch and Brother Wayne Peterson to the Committee.
The three members from the Council—who volunteered and the members present approved—are SK Reggie Boucher, SK
Andrew Evans and Brother Steve Killillea. Also in accordance with the By-Laws, they then withdrew from the meeting and selected
SK Neil Welch as their Chairman. They will report at our business meeting in April as to their recommended slate of officers.
At this time and continuing
into our business meeting in June when the elections will be held, nominations may be made from the floor. Please give this
committee all considerations and help them do their job.
By the time you receive this newsletter, we will have had one of our Lenten Fish Dinner. If you haven’t already
done so, please call Brother Bob Rivers (378-5132) and advise him that you want to help.
We also have our Handicap Drive scheduled for February 26 and 27 at the church. Our Chairman for this event has
also secured permission to hold a drive at the new Publix Store at Clark and Honore. Call Brother Ron Kosey (927-5118) and help us make a success of this event. 90% of the proceeds will go to our selection of the
Special Olympics Program for the Handicapped. The other money (10%) will remain in the State Council Charities program.
Yours in Christ
Ozro N. Barclay, Grand Knight.
Congratulations

Council #13307 –Ladies Auxiliary
Dear Ladies
I’m happy to report that we had a very productive meeting in February, and I want to thank all the ladies
that were present. I realize that I always say this, but it would be nice if we could have a better turn out for our meetings.
I took an order for a nametag from one of our newer members and if you don’t have one you can always tell
me and I’ll be happy to order one for you.
Congratulations to Diane Parotino our lucky 50/50 winner.
We’ve been invited to the men’s social on February 17th and I understand that a surprise
is in order. I can hardly wait to find out what it is.
Our fish fry started on Feb 11th and will continue until the week before Good Friday, which is March
18th. Be sure and tell your friends to join us so that this is successful.
Our turnout for the Winter Wonderland Dance was disappointing, but everyone that attended enjoyed the food, the
music and the company of our members and friends. Thanks again to Barbara Piccione for doing such an excellent job, and to
all the other members that helped along the way. Special thanks to the husbands that pitched in, setting up, washing and drying
the dishes and then coming in on Sat morning to set up for the breakfast
Lades Auxiliary (cont)
the following day. We couldn’t have done it without their help.
Our next meeting is on March 2nd Remember to sell
those tickets for our Luncheon and Fashion Show on Saturday March 5th. Geri Welch has everything under control
and handed out tickets to all members present
Thanks again to Marge Barclay, Marie Becker, Chris Boucher and Barbara Piccione who helped me with the breakfast
for the council’s retreat. In fact, Wayne Becker, who was in charge sent us a beautiful “thank you” note,
which we appreciated
Ladies, just a reminder again to please join your husband on the third Sunday of the month at the 11:30 mass for
the corporate Communion. It would be wonderful to show our support and have a good turnout.
I’d like to leave with an Irish blessing
May there always be work for your hands to do.
May your purse always hold a coin or two
May the sun always shine on your windowpane
May a rainbow be certain to follow the rain.
May the hand of a friend always be near you
And may God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you.
Happy St Patrick’s Day
Let us pray for peace, our men and women in the service and for our family and friends
God Bless. Loretta L. Naimo, President
Congratulations

Field Agents Letter:
Brother Knights:
This is the start of the ending of the council year. Grand Knights are scrambling to get information for their
state reports, so that they may get them in on time. As your assigned field agent, I can help in the recruitment portion of
these reports, But I need the Brother Knights help.
Your council can receive star council awards if they reach membership and insurance quotas. That is where you (members)
and myself (field agent) come into the formula. I am asking that any members that have joined or transferred into your council
in June 2004 until the present time and has not been contacted by a K of C Field Agent to please give me a call at 941-776-2902
anytime and I will return your call. ASAP. Also if you have ay friends or relatives that may want to join the Knights of Columbus
and you are a little shy of approaching them, give me their names and numbers and I will call them for you. Remember the classic answer for not joining is “I was never asked”
Don’t let this happen to your council. Call me today for an appointment. I want
to hear from you!
