Grand Knight’s Column
Brother Knights
As we begin the second half of our fraternal year, let us reflect on what the Council has accomplished since our
inception as a church council for St Patrick’s Parish. We have grown to our present strength of 85 members; have had
several very successful Dinner Dances; the Fish Fries of last Lent were highly successful; we are helping to support a Seminarian
as he pursues his vocation of becoming a Priest; we have helped our Parish by paying a roof repair bill; a Ladies Auxiliary
has been started and is also growing; sponsored a Free Breakfast for our Parish; have assisted in our Parish monthly Outreach
Program through our donations, helping to sort and box all the Parish donations, and finally delivery to the Charities; we
have held our first Annual Mass to thank our Altar Servers; we hold our Corporate Communion Mass each month and have sponsored
such events as selling enough tickets to sell out showing of the “Passion
of Christ”.
All of these events and occasions happened because of you, the Knights of this council who have devoted time and
effort to ensure that each was very successful. I can not take any credit for the success of this Council in its endeavors.
I must however say that this Grand Knight is very thankful and indebted
to all members of the Council. My sincere thanks goes out to all.
It is with heavy heart that I announce that our Chancellor, Bob Rivers has resigned that position due to personal
reasons, and that our Chaplain, Father Mike has resigned effective January 1,
2005 due to his additional duties assigned to him by our Bishop as Chaplain to Cardinal Mooney High School and as Spiritual
Director to the Diocesan Charismatic Renewal Program. Father Mike will however
hold our Retreat Program as scheduled on January 15th.
An election will be held at our January meeting to fill the position of Chancellor. Nominations will be accepted
from the floor. Father George has accepted the position as Chaplain effective January 1st.
And now, with a grateful heart, my wife Marge and I wish you and your family A
very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We will pray for your health
and welfare during this Glorious Season
Your Grand Knight Ozro N. Barclay
Chaplain’s Column
Dear Brother Knights
The Knights of Columbus Council #13307 was formed soon after I arrived at Saint Patrick’s Church in November
2002. At the request of our former pastor, Fr Art Hannaway (of blessed memory) I offered to be the Chaplain to the council.
I watched how hard you worked to see that the council would be a success. Personal sacrifices of time, talent, and treasures
characterize the attitude of many of you. You have contributed much good to our parish for which I want to personally thank
you.
Lately, I have been unable to participate in the works of the Knights as I would like, i.e. attending council meetings
and special functions. This is due to the fact that I have recently been given two new assignments from Bishop Nevins in addition
to being parochial vicar at St Patrick Church: Spiritual Director to the Diocesan Charismatic Renewal and Chaplain to Cardinal
Mooney High School. To faithfully fulfill these new assignments requires more
of my time and attention. Therefore, I have asked to be relieved of my duties as Chaplain to the Knights of Columbus Council
#13307.
An unfortunate situation has occurred within our council that I would like to correct. A rumor has been circulating
well over a month whereby it is said that I want our council to close and merge with the Fruitville Road Council. I was unaware
that this was being said until a brother Knight brought it to my attention this past week. Let me be as clear as I can: I
have never said anything at any time or any place that could even remotely be interpreted to what has been attributed to me.
I have been supportive of the council’s work and greatly value the friendships that I have made with many of you.
Ay the Lord Bless you, your families and the work of Council #13307.
Faithfully yours in Christ
Father Michael A. Scheip, Chaplain
Congratulations
Father George Brennan received the First Degree on December 13 and will be appointed as Chaplain on January 1,
2005
The following received the 4th Degree exemplification on November27, 2004:

Faithful Navigator Report
Dear Sir Knights and Ladies
Our color Corps turnout has not been good. We need much better participation.
Our Lady of Victory and St Patrick councils must help support each other, with the addition of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs
council #13639 and possibly two other councils. We are not in competition with each other.
We are all Brother Knights living in different “homes”, but all neighbors.
I want to welcome our new 13 Sir Knights to our assembly and pledge to help them grow in our brotherhood and faith.
Those who wear the emblem of the 4th Degree are committed to conduct themselves honorably as Christian gentlemen
in their private and public lives, as well as acting patriotically for the good of their country. Likewise, the 4th
Degree sword represents the bearer’s reverence for the Eucharist and the Pope, bishops and hierarchy of the Church,
and displays publicly his willingness to protect his church and priests.
Considered under a religious aspect, we have the honor and privilege of wearing on our swords and lapels the sacred
symbol of the Most Holy Trinity.
This should always remind us to live a good Christian life, and that we should never bring dishonor on the emblem
we have been privileged to wear. By this, others may see our good works, through which we will glorify our holy Religion,
our Honored Order and our Beloved Country.
Lady Linda and I wish all a Very Merry Christmas and a Healthy New Year.
Fraternally, Your Faithful Navigator Don Donovan

Council #13307 –Ladies Auxiliary
Dear Ladies
It is with great pleasure to report that we had two new members join us at our December meeting. A great big welcome
to Jean Delaney and LaVerne Petzold—we are very happy to have both of you aboard.
Diane handed out the nametags that were ordered. We still have some for the members that were not present. Anyone
interested in ordering one can do so at our next meeting. Here I was preaching that we should always wear our nametags so
that we can get to know each other, and guess what, I forgot mine last month.
A quick reminder that our next meeting will be held on January 6, 2005 at 7PM in the parish hall. I’m hoping
that we will have a nice turnout.
Ladies, please try and join us, ride in with your husbands, as you know that their meeting is on the same night
and the Grand Knight is always kind enough to invite us for refreshments.
Ladies, please remember to bring cookies to the meeting that evening for our “Big Show” the next night.
We need them, as we will be serving refreshments after the show. Many thanks for your cooperation.
Also we will start to collect dues for the year 2005, and last ,but certainly not least, for our “Winter
Wonderland dance on the 28th of January, we need baskets for our door prizes and wine, liquor, coffee, cookies,
tea, crackers, and anything else you can think of to fill our baskets.
As I write this, I’m looking forward to the Christmas Party the Knights will be sponsoring. Some of us will
be baking cakes for dessert and others, like myself will buy some dessert. We have a nice crowd coming, and it should be a fun evening to kick off the
Christmas Season.
Ladies, please join your husbands the third Sunday of every month at the 11:30 Mass for the Corporate Communion.
It will be so nice if we could show our support and have a large turnout.
Now we have to get busy and start selling our tickets for the big show in January. Some of us have sold raffle
tickets for the “Butterfly Quilt” before
and after each Mass this past weekend and we did very well. We have four more weekends to display and sell more
raffles. I wonder who the lucky winner will be? Well, we will know soon enough, won’t we?
Barbara Piccione gave her report for our “Winter Wonderland “ Dinner/Dance on January 28th.
It was a unanimous decision to have it catered this time and she will have ore to report at the January meeting. Just to remind
you again to bring all the “goodies” at that meeting.
Geri Welch is looking into the “Fashion Show and Luncheon” which will be held in March at Laurel Oaks
Country Club after the beginning of the new year. She’ll need some models so give it some thought and let her know if
you are interested.
Corky Pezzati graciously donated her winnings to the 50/50 back to the auxiliary for deposit. Thank you! Thank
you!
If you know of any member that is under the weather, please let our “sunshine lady” Josephine a call
at 379-0597.
Hope to see you all at the next meeting. Let us pray for each other and
for peace. I hope that everyone has a very Merry Christmas and I’m hoping that we all have a healthy and Happy New Year.
God Bless. Loretta L. Naimo, President
