Grand Knights Column

I cant believe that my term as Grand Knight has come to an end. It seems like just yesterday that we all worked so hard to put our Council together. Today we number over 80 members and still growing. My sincere appreciation to all my Brother Knights who made my job as Grand Knight so successful. If I may borrow a few words from Brother Neil Welch, Even our name sake Columbus, had a few difficult moments with his crew. But in the end, he was victorious and so were we.

Please remember our Italian Dinner on June 18, 2004 and our monthly Mass on Sunday June20, 2004 at 11:30 AM

At this time, I usually announce the Knight of the Month---but this month I would like to announce that all my Brother Knights of Council 13307 are truly Knights of the Month---you are all deserving of this award.

My sincere congratulations to the new Grand Knight, Ozzie Barclay, and his officers. I sincerely hope that you will all pledge your support to them so that we can continue to grow and be a great council and a credit to both the Knights of Columbus and St. Patricks

God Bless us All

Chuck Biondolillo

Editors Column:

I am honored that you have elected me as the Grand Knight for the year 20042005. Our thanks go out to our Grand knight Biondolillo and his officers who have laid a foundation on which we can continue to build . He has carried a lot of weight on his shoulders trying to make our Council grow and in the pursuit of Council activities.

It now becomes the responsibility for our new officers and my self to continue the Growth as an established Knights  of Columbus Council. We will do this by establishing the programs that will encompass not only our Church , but our community, our families within the Council and the church,  our youths of the church and growth of our council. To this end, I am extending an invitation to all members who are willing to devote their time and efforts so that all phases of a true Knights of Columbus Council can be accomplished, to meet with me at the conclusion of this meeting. Each member who has not previously completed a Membership Survey form, please do so at our meeting and return them to the Chancellor.

A meeting has been scheduled for  June 17th at 7:15 PM in the Parish Hall for the newly elected officers and any of the membership who desire to attend. This will be a training night activity so that all in attendance can learn the functions and duties and additional duties of the officers, plus learning how I intend to run our meetings, to include the Protocols that will be observed during these meetings.

I sincerely hope that this is the last time that I will refer to myself as I for I have been taught since childhood there is no I in the word TEAM.

Your newly elected Grand Knight once more thank you all for your vote of confidence in him and now asks you for your prayers for our success in the new year.

Go with the Love of our Lord

Ozro N. Barclay

Council #13307 Ladies Auxiliary

Dear Ladies

At our June meeting, Im happy to say that we welcomed a new member, Corky Pezzati to our auxiliary. We are delighted to have you join us. Welcome aboard!!

We now have 24 paid-up members

Mary Jacco joined in at our meeting as our guest and hopefully shell decide to join our group. Please give it some thought, Mary, we need you!

Our next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, July 1, at 7 PM in the parish hallthe same time the men have their meeting, so Ladies, please come and join us and ride with your husbands

Since Father George did approve all the dates we requested for our up-coming events, we could discuss everything in more detail. Our music for the Luau, Sept 17th and our Winter Wonderland dance , Jan 28th has been taken care of. Barbara and Marge are now checking on the caterer for these two events.

Marge has booked Cahal Dunne, an excellent entertainer and Irish Tenor, for our show ,Jan 7th with coffee and dessert after the show.

Geri and Jenni are checking on the caterer for our luncheon and fashion show Mar 5th as we speak.

Special thanks to the Ladies who volunteered to be our trustees: Ruth Sessa, Jenni McGinn , and Rosemary Biondolillo. Also, thanks you Mary Palazzo who volunteered to handle our publicity.

Last, not certainly not least, let me not forget to thank Helen Edwards who is in charge of calling everyone to remind them of our meeting (date and time). Nice work, Helen.

It would be appreciated if we could have the entire membership attend our meetings for your suggestions and ideas, so that our events can be successful. A great deal of planning goes into these functions and we will need all the help we can get.

I would like to thank Betty Mamaro who donated her winnings on the 50/50 money back to the Auxiliary for deposit.

Ladies, please join your husbands the third Sunday of every month at the 11:30 Mass for the Council Communion It would so nice if we could have a large turnout. Marie Becker brought in her beautiful butterfly quilt, and when it is

completed, she said that we can sell chances at one of our functions to raise money. She also handed out squares to everyone to get our angel quilt started for the same reason. I never realized the time and effort it takes to make one of these quilts.

If you know of any member that is under the weather, please give our sunshine Lady, Josephine,  a call at 379-0597.

After our meeting was adjourned, we were invited to join the Knights for refreshments. Hope to see all of you at the next meeting

Let us all pray for peace. God Bless. Happy Fathers Day

 Loretta L. Naimo, President

      Comments on President Reagans Passing

Called one of our greatest presidents, Regan was guest at Knights 100th annual international meeting in 1982 New Haven, Ct-Supreme Knight Carl A. Anderson issued the following statement today regarding the death of President Ronald Reagan. Ronald Reagan occupies a special place in the hearts of all of us in the Knights of Columbus. He was a man of deep and abiding faith for whom prayer was an integral part of his daily life. On trail rides at his California ranch, he would often recite the prayer of St. Francis: Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. It was Ronald Reagan who established diplomatic relations between the United States and the Holy See, who joined us at our centennial celebration in 1982, and who led us know in his speech to our 1986 convention that his father had been a Knight of Columbus. He was one of our greatest presidents, in no small part because of his love of Christ, and his humble effort to live every day in His service.

Anderson served as special assistant to President Reagan from 1985 to 1987, and served as director of the White House Office of Public Liaison. The Knights of Columbus is the worlds largest Catholic fraternal service organization, with nearly 1.7 million members throughout North America and elsewhere. It offers insurance and annuities to its members and their families. In 2002, members reported raising and contributing a record $128.5 million and volunteering a record 60.8 million hours of service

Squires Program

My Brother Knights

I have been asked to initiate a Squires Program here at St Patricks Church

The Squires are an organization formed under the auspices of our Council #13307 and is dedicated to teaching and enhancing the faith and leadership experiences of our young parishioners who are from ages 10 through 17.

This letter to you is as this is an undertaking which cannot be completed solely by me alone, I am asking for the assistance of at least three brother knights or even four in this endeavor

Please keep in mind that St Patricks does not have a youth organization, so it is all the more reason that we begin as soon as possible. Please contact me at 907-0148 or E-mail me at BBBP1723@ aol.com if working with young people is something you feel you would like to do. Many thanks to all of you.

God Bless you and God Bless the Knights of Columbus

Best Wishes

Brian Tennyson

Faithful Navigator Report

Dear Sir Knights and Ladies

Here it is June already, the end of our fraternal year and time to write my last report.

Our Patriotic Bal was a great success. We had the pleasure of honoring Specialist Robert E. Pierson, United States Central Command, McDill Air Force Base, Who was selected by his military superiors as the Outstanding Enlisted person in our immediate area. Our Guest Speaker, Chief Master Sergeant Curtis L. Brownhill, United States Central Command, gave a very informative entertaining and inspirational speech. Our Brother Assemblies from Grove City, Venice and Bradenton all attended, making it a fun evening. I would like to thank our Chairperson and Captain Sir Knight Don Donovan and Sir Knight John Rogge PFN PGK, FDD for being our liaison with McDill/ Central Command and for being our Master of Ceremonies.

Our next regular Assembly meeting will be June 24th at 8:00 PM

This has been a transition year for our Assembly, as we became a two Council Assembly. This was made easy for me by the exceptional cooperation I had from our two Grand Knights: Chuck Biondolillo from ST Patricks and Lenny Anzalone from Our Lady of Victory. My sincere thanks go out to both of you and I am looking forward to seeing another Council added in the near future.  What is best for Our Church and for the Knights of Columbus should always come first.

Next, I would like to thank our Color Corp members, especially Don Donovan. At the time of this report, they have appeared 28 times.

Lastly, but certainly not least, I want to thank the team of officers for this year.  Sometime through the year every one of them volunteered to chair an event  or work on a special project. I never had trouble getting volunteers. Thank You!!! To those officers who are staying on for next year and the new officers coming in, I hope you will all give the next Faithful Navigator the same support

Fraternally,

Your Faithful Navigator, Paul Bourquin
